Say no to affiliate links, Say yes to friend links

Going over through my (few) backlinks, I’ve wondered if actually getting links from friends would be much easier compared to those who pretty much spent most of their budget on links. Here is my take on this: Get some links from your allies.

Building interconnected sites can be kind of bad (illustrated with Engadget getting penalized for 10 days for unknown reasons), but it does allow all sites to rise as one.

Accumulating links from fellow friends can be actually easy work. You can be surprised at how often your friends actually support you despite being rivals (they are friends after all). There are some nice ways to get “friend” links:
1) Ask directly. Sometimes it works.
2) If they have a blog, ask them go “Do-follow”, then participate in commenting.
3) Participate in their forums.

Though, there is one draw-back. You can never get a lot of links unless you have the same number of friends as the same number of users at DigitalPoint.
