Why digg is like a casino

Posted by multippt

Why is Digg like a casino? Well, even though it does not give you money in return, it does give you a lot of visitors to your site if you managed to “win big”. However, winning comes at a cost. You will tend to submit your site more and more. Even if you lose, the outcome is still the same - you’ll continue to be loyal to Digg.

In addition, Digg will suspect any site if it comes to the front several times in consecutive days. Like a casino, if you win several times on a slot machine, expect security guards to come and detain you, even if all are legitimate wins. Of course, it does help if you are a big shot like CNET, or are an associate of Digg like the Digg blog.

Digg also have security guards, similar to what most casinos have. They will impede entry to any unwanted (or banned) sites. Whenever you tried to submit a banned site, you’ll see a kind message, but you still won’t be able to submit the site anyway.

However, there is one thing that Digg lacks compared to a Casino - a spanking nice tall building. Why, if Digg were a casino, the physical ad banners it have will be bringing it millions from some advertisers. Oh wait, Digg already have on-site banners! Google pays Digg millions a year.

There are also some rumors surrounding digg, similar to most other casinos. Why, Digg may have some hidden ninjas and tools to monitor users, helping to strip out posts that it deams not worthy, similar to casinos having nice little devices to detect cheating.

Of course, there are many ways in which Digg is similar to a casino…
