How to: Make your site look as though it was penalized

Posted by multippt

This is your how-to guide to make a site look like it is penalized by Google. Getting “penalized” have its so-called benefits, because you get to assault on Google (then praise them once they assign the real PageRank) and won’t get much comment spam with links in them if they came from wary commentors.

Google unleashes group chat in GMail

Posted by multippt

Looks like Google decided to add another new feature to GMail: Group Chat.

Google Chat: Multiple Contacts

This feature is similar to “inviting” friends to join a conversation in Windows Live messenger. You can chat to multiple friends on a single window. Of course, as with GMail, this messenger is available as a web application.

Aside from group chat, Google has solved the demand for emoticons by adding more emoticons (which look really nice).

Google still rules

Posted by multippt

If you compare Yahoo and Google, chances are people will say that both of them are on par with each other. Yahoo, having the pioneer advantage, still receives slightly more traffic than Google (but slightly is not that much to such sites). But, don’t consider traffic - consider growth. Google can be said to be one of the fastest growing web-based company online, and it is still growing.

Down the road: Will Google lose support?

Posted by multippt

A few years ago, Google was hailed as one of the best search engines around. Today, it is still the best search engine around. However, support for it appeared to have declined, compared to years ago. Google is no longer king of search relevancy - Yahoo is now just as good. Traffic-wise, Google still receives roughly the same traffic as Yahoo. However, Yahoo still have the “pioneer” advantage, and there are still more loyalists around.

GMail now >5 GB

Posted by multippt

GMail keeps growing

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that Google mail was going to overtake hotmail in just 2 months time. Well, I was wrong. Google did it way faster, and managed to hit more than 5GB in just less than a month.

Looks like Google may have bought much more server space than before, because the growth rate in GMail space appears to be much more compared to 2 years ago. Well, it is a great feat that Google managed to increase its mail account by 5 times.

Statcounter now PR10 again

Posted by multippt

Statcounter becomes PR10 again

Statcounter has regained its status as a PR10 site (i.e. max Pagerank), which they lost it in April 2007.

Here is a brief history of its pagerank:
January 2007: 10
April 2007: 9
July 2007: 9
September 2007: 6
Today (November 2007): 10

I guess they managed to lift their Pagerank penalty (involving selling links).

Of course, StatCounter is not the only site whose Pagerank has changed after the last update.
