Here are the details (courtesy of google translator):
-Increased compatibility for PlayStation 2 games that require the hard disk
-PlayStation of the part in PS3 and operational status of the PlayStation®2 standard software were renewed. You can verify up-to-date operational status with the private search sight.

PS3 red light problem - Possible fix

Posted by multippt

I’m sure there are some reports of PS3’s not turning on properly, but instead end up with the known flashing red light. Apparently, MXACE encountered this flashing red light problem, and managed to fix the problem after doing a simple fix (however though, this may not necessarily mean that it fixes all similar problems on the PS3).

The fix was to remove the hard drive from the PS3.

However, note that the flashing red light problem may be due to the hard drive being damaged, or it being poorly connected to the system. This relation is also noticed in several PS3 forums.

Netnoob admits that burning PS3 was a hoax

Posted by multippt

A few days ago, netnoob claimed that his PS3 overheated and burned down half of his house. Of course, there were some who did not believe his tale, while many others began to question Sony of the likelihood of the PS3 becoming too overheated.

This controversal scenario led Sony to take action against him, since this meant bad publicity to Sony (they received 200 calls from worried consumers).

The fact is, Netnoob does not own a PS3 (and neither a house). He probably did this to gain as much publicity (and traffic) to his blog. However though, Netnoob was in the process of making it real, by buying a new PS3… and setting fire to it (wow, he must be rich…), and take photos of the PS3 burning away. He also intended to claim that Sony gave him a replacement, at the same time include pictures of the burning PS3 in his blog.

The scam/hoax did not go according to plan, and most likely his reputation on the net would go down with him and his white lies.
