DigitalPoint banned from AdSense? Nope!

Posted by multippt

 DigitalPoint Ad ban?

Whew… just because DigitalPoint forums have a blanked out Google ad in its forums, it spread out ripples appearing on other sites like Sphinn! Well, the thing is, DigitalPoint is an ad-revenue sharing forum, and a ban from Google Adsense is a scary thing, because it means everyone’s ad is in danger. But, wait, DigitalPoint recovered from this anyway…

What? Ban?!
Yes, DigitalPoint’s Google AdSense ads are blanked out. Google sometimes ban URLs, in this case the forum. It is not really known why for. Though, this screenshot does say something…

The reason

Why was it banned (probably)?
When looking at Google AdSense analytics, DigitalPoint was banned, because it was not found (server error). Recently, DigitalPoint had a server problem and was offline for a day to everyone’s surprise. As this is a temporary problem, Google restored the ads after a while. Looks like Google was crawling over DigitalPoint every hour… hoping it will come back to life.

Sony triggers 80GB PS3 rumors

Posted by signup

Rumors of a larger hard disk drive capacity PS3 gained strength when Sony Computer Entertainment spokesman Satoshi Fukuoka once again revealed that a 60GB PS3 will not be enough for hardcore gamers.

Fukuoka talked about a number of changes to the PS3 that Sony is currently discussing. This is not the first time that such comments have been made by Sony officials. Just last week, Fukuoka himself had talked about a higher capacity model while Sony filed an FCC application which hinted about an 80GB model.

“For users who vigorously store games and other entertainment content in the PS3, 20-giga is probably going to be too small, and even 60-giga may not be big enough eventually. We are not likely to change its core components and functions such as the Cell, RSX, Blu-ray drive and network capability. But outside that realm, addition and deletion is quite possible”, he said.

Sony currently sells PS3 with hard disk capacity ranging from 20GB to 60GB. However last month, Sony announced that it will be stopping the production of 20GB PS3s in North America. Flagging sales of Sony’s newest offering have led to a loss of nearly $1.7 billion for the year ending March 31.

Guess what? Sony admits viral marketing ploy

Posted by multippt

Earlier, we came across a blog (”all i want for xmas is a psp”). We went on to saying that the blog seems too suspicious and later did a little research to find out more.

Now, Sony admited to the fake blog by placing a notice on the site. Quoted from the site:

“Busted. Nailed. Snagged. As many of you have figured out (maybe our speech was a little too funky fresh???), Peter isn’t a real hip-hop maven and this site was actually developed by Sony. Guess we were trying to be just a little too clever. From this point forward, we will just stick to making cool products, and use this site to give you nothing but the facts on the PSP.”

Hopefully, Sony wouldn’t come out with more similar kinds of marketing schemes, where consumers end up being coerced to buy something.

Netnoob admits that burning PS3 was a hoax

Posted by multippt

A few days ago, netnoob claimed that his PS3 overheated and burned down half of his house. Of course, there were some who did not believe his tale, while many others began to question Sony of the likelihood of the PS3 becoming too overheated.

This controversal scenario led Sony to take action against him, since this meant bad publicity to Sony (they received 200 calls from worried consumers).

The fact is, Netnoob does not own a PS3 (and neither a house). He probably did this to gain as much publicity (and traffic) to his blog. However though, Netnoob was in the process of making it real, by buying a new PS3… and setting fire to it (wow, he must be rich…), and take photos of the PS3 burning away. He also intended to claim that Sony gave him a replacement, at the same time include pictures of the burning PS3 in his blog.

The scam/hoax did not go according to plan, and most likely his reputation on the net would go down with him and his white lies.
