PS3 updates - Firmware 2.01

Posted by multippt

Looks like the PlayStation 3 decided to catch up with the PlayStation Portable (PSP) on firmware updates.

Similar to the PSP update from 2.00 to 2.01, there are no feature releases in this version, but mainly bug-fixes - relating to improving game-play (no more freezes).

You can get the update by using the “system update” feature in your PlayStation 3 if it is connected online. Alternatively, you can download it from the official PlayStation site.

Mac OSX update - 10.5.1

Posted by multippt

Looks like Apple released a new update for its operating system. This update adds quite a lot of features (judging its file-size).

You can update your install using the software update feature on the system itself, or if you prefer, download it from the Apple site.

You can view a whole list of changes from the Apple site.

Firefox 2.0.0.9

Posted by multippt

In just 2 weeks after 2.0.0.8, Mozilla decided to dish out 2.0.0.9. As with any update, it adds new features. In this case, the changes come in the form of bug fixes.

There are no visible feature releases in this version, but nonetheless an importan update. Hmm, anyone still thinking of the Firefox memory leak? 2.0.0.9 doesn’t seem to patch it yet.

Universal unbricker for all PSPs

Posted by multippt

Dark_Alex (yes, the same person who “announced his retirement” a few months ago) has released a new universal unbricker for both the new and old PSPs. This means that you can save your PSP slim as well in the event that you did something you are not supposed to.

The unbricker will downgrade/upgrade your PSP to 3.71 M33 (custom firmware; this firmware works on PSP and PSP slim). You can further downgrade the original PSP (not the PSP slim) using Pandora’s battery. The unbricker makes use of Pandora’s battery.

Note that this unbricker works depending on the extent of bricking. For severe cases where dumping of the original PSP’s firmware is not possible, the PSP still remains bricked. Note that you need an original firmware dump of the PSP; using others will result in a brick. Thus the unbricker should be used with care.

Wordpress 2.3 released!

Posted by multippt

Wordpress 2.3 has just been released. This new version of Wordpress boasts the following new additions:
-Tag support, improves SEO of your site, and navigation.
-Update notification, notifies you of any future release of Wordpress.
-Updated SEO for URLs. Support for URLs with no “www.” in it.
-”Pending review”. Similar to drafts, except it in a way it ensures that someone else may look at it (whereelse drafts might get ignored if there are too many posts).
-Changes to WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor. Allows for addition of so-called “hidden” features that otherwise need much JavaScript editing.
-Better ATOM feed support.
-Increase in loading time.

More features other than these main ones were added. The Wordpress codex documents on most of them.
